Bill of Materials

🔑 Who can see this: the Bill of Materials menu only appears if the Product Consumption feature is switched on for your account. If you'd like it, contact Invoay Support.

Every service uses up some product: a hair colour might use 60 ml of colour and 60 ml of developer; a facial uses a sachet of cream. Bill of Materials lets you tell Invoay how much product each service uses. Then, every time the service is billed, Invoay knows how much product was consumed.

This helps you:

  • see how much product your services really use,
  • spot waste, and
  • see your true profit per service on the Profitability Dashboard.

How to open it: Inventory › Bill of Materials

Consumption Setup​

Here you link each service to the products it uses.

  1. Click New.
  2. Pick the Store.
  3. Under Service, choose the service.
  4. Under Consumption Item, choose the product it uses.
  5. In Consumption In Units, type how much of the product one service uses — in the product's unit of measure (ml, grams, pieces…).
  6. Click Save changes.

Repeat for each product a service uses. To stop counting a link, untick Is Active.

💡 Make sure your products have the right Unit of Measure in Item Master — if a bottle is measured in ml, enter consumption in ml too.

Consumption Summary​

A report of how much product was used, based on the services you billed.

Choose your dates to see the store, service, bill date, the product used, and the consumed units, with totals at the bottom.
