Hold a bill and load it later

👤 For: Cashiers, front-desk staff and stylists

Busy counter? A customer is still in the chair, but someone else is waiting to pay? Hold puts the first bill safely aside so you can serve the next person. When you're ready, Load brings it back exactly as you left it.

Hold a bill

  1. With items in the bill, tap Hold.
  2. Simple POS asks "Do you want to Hold Cart...?" Tap Hold.
  3. The bill is cleared from the screen, and the number on the Load button goes up by one.

â„šī¸ Note: You can't hold an empty bill. You'll see Empty Cart Cannot Hold.

Load a held bill

  1. Tap Load. The number on it shows how many bills are waiting.
  2. The Hold Carts list shows each held bill with:
    • the customer's name (or Walk-in Customer)
    • how many items it has
    • who held it, and when
  3. Tap the bill you want. It opens on the billing screen, ready to continue.

💡 Tip: If you already have something in the bill when you load another one, don't worry. Simple POS holds your current bill automatically first, so nothing is lost.

Clear out all held bills

At the end of the day, you can tap Remove All in the Hold Carts list, then Yes, to delete every held bill. âš ī¸ This can't be undone, so be sure none are still needed.

Held bills on more than one counter

🔓 Optional feature: Share held bills across counters Normally, each counter only sees the bills held on it. If your store has this turned on, every counter sees every held bill, so a customer can be started at one counter and finished at another. Each bill is labelled This Terminal or Other Terminal. Ask your admin to turn ON ShowAllHoldItemsOnAllMachines (under Cart Settings) in the back office settings. If the setting is not available, please contact Invoay Support.

Job cards (work slips for staff)

🔓 Optional feature: Job cards If you have the Job Card feature, Simple POS can print a slip when you hold a bill, listing the services and who's doing them. Staff can then carry it to their station. Ask your admin to turn ON IsJobCardEnabled (under Job Card Settings) in the back office settings. If the setting is not available, please contact Invoay Support.

If your store is set to ask, you'll see "Do you want to Print Job Card...?" after tapping Hold.

  1. Choose a layout:
    • Print Normal: one slip for everything.
    • Print Service Wise: a separate slip for each service.
    • Print Employee Wise: a separate slip for each staff member.
  2. Under Select Items to Print, untick anything you don't want on the slip.
  3. Tap Print Job Card.

Don't want a slip this time? Just close the window. The bill is still held.

🔓 Optional feature: Job card choices Your store decides whether Simple POS asks before printing a job card, or prints one automatically every time you hold a bill. Ask your admin to set IsJobCardPrintPromptEnabled or IsJobCardPrintEnabledOnEveryHold (under Job Card Settings) in the back office settings. If the setting is not available, please contact Invoay Support.

See a bill's job cards

In the Load list, held bills with job cards show Job Cards (2) (or however many), with each card's status:

StatusMeaning
PrintedThe slip has been printed.
Not PrintedThe job card exists but hasn't been printed yet.
CancelledThe job card was cancelled. It shows who cancelled it.

Tap the Preview icon to see what's on a job card.

Cancel a job card

🔓 Optional feature: Cancel job cards You'll see a Cancel Job Card button only if your store allows it. Ask your admin to turn ON AllowJobCardCancellation (under Job Card Settings) in the back office settings. If the setting is not available, please contact Invoay Support.

  1. In the Load list, tap Cancel Job Card next to the card.
  2. Type a Cancellation Reason. This is required.
  3. Tap Cancel Job Card.

When a job card is required before billing

🔓 Optional feature: Job card required before bill Some stores need a job card for every bill. If yours does and you tap CHECKOUT without one, you'll see Job Card Required. Tap Issue Job Card to hold the bill and print its job card. Then load it again when the work is done. Ask your admin about IsJobCardRequiredBeforeBill (under Job Card Settings) in the back office settings. If the setting is not available, please contact Invoay Support.

â„šī¸ Note: Items that were printed on a job card can't be removed from the bill. You'll see "This item was issued on a Job Card and cannot be removed."
