Activate Simple POS on a new device
π€ For: Store owners and chain owners
This page walks you through setting up Simple POS on a new computer, tablet or phone for the first time. It takes about 5β10 minutes. Once you're done, your staff can log in and start billing right away.
Before you beginβ
- Keep your Chain Owner email and password handy.
- Make sure the device is connected to the internet.
- Have your phone nearby in case you're asked for a one-time code.
- If you're moving from an old computer, keep your backup file (it ends in
.invy) on this device or on a USB drive.
π‘ Tip: Prefer watching to reading? On the Chain Owner login screen, tap How to setup SimplePOS β English or How to setup SimplePOS β Hindi to watch a short setup video.

- Type your Chain Owner Email.
- Type your Chain Owner Password.
- Tap Log In.
β οΈ Important: Use the Chain Owner (business owner) login here, not a staff login. Staff logins are only used later, on the everyday login screen.
Step 3: Enter your one-time code (only if asked)β
If your account has extra login security turned on, a Two-Factor Auth window appears after you tap Log In.
- Choose how you'd like to receive your code:
- SMS / Phone Code: sent as a normal text message.
- WhatsApp Code: sent to your WhatsApp.
- Tap Send Code.
- Type the code you received into the boxes.
- Tap Verify.
Didn't get the code? Wait for the timer to finish, then tap Resend code.
Step 4: Restore your old data (optional)β
Next, you'll be asked: "Do you have existing backup you wish to restore?"
- New to Simple POS, or starting fresh? Tap No and continue.
- Moving from an old computer? Tap Yes, then pick your backup file (it ends in
.invy). Wait for the Restore Backup Complete message, then tap Done.
π‘ Tip: If you pick the wrong kind of file, you'll see "Wrong Backup File." Just try again and choose the file ending in
.invy.
Step 5: Choose your store locationβ
You'll now see a list of all the store locations (branches) on your account.
- Tap the store location this device will be used in.
If you see "No Location Found", your account doesn't have a store location set up yet. Please contact Invoay Support.
Step 6: Choose the terminal (counter)β
Next, you'll see the list of terminals for that store. A terminal is simply a billing counter. For example, "Front Desk" or "Counter 2".
- Tap the terminal that matches this device.
Each device should use its own terminal. If you see "No Terminal Found", please contact Invoay Support to add one.
π·οΈ Card machine editions: If your Simple POS came with a WorldLine or Razorpay card machine, an extra pairing step happens here. See Pair your card machine.
Step 7: Fill in the Configuration screenβ
This screen tells Simple POS how this device fits into your store and how you like dates and times shown.
| Setting | What to choose |
|---|---|
| Installation Type | Server+Client if this is your only billing device, or your main one. Client if this is an extra counter that connects to your main one. Server is for a dedicated back-room computer. Not sure? See Choosing your setup type. |
| Server Host | For a main counter, leave the address that's already selected. For an extra counter (Client), type the address of your main counter, then tap Test. |
| Server Port | Leave this as it is, unless Invoay Support tells you otherwise. |
| Date Format | How dates appear on screen and on receipts, e.g. DayβMonthβYear (22β05β2023). |
| Time Format | 12 Hours (e.g. 2:30 PM) or 24 Hours (e.g. 14:30). |
| Store type | Beauty and Wellness for salons, spas and clinics, or Retail Stores for shops. |
Next to the Server Port, you'll see whether Simple POS can reach the main counter:
- π’ Connected: all good. You can save.
- π΄ Not Found: Simple POS can't reach it yet. Check the address and that the main counter is switched on and on the same network.
When you see Connected, tap Save.
Step 8: Set up your receipt printerβ
After saving, you'll see a Registration Succeed. message. Then Simple POS opens the Printer Setting screen so you can set up your receipt printer. Choose your printer and receipt size, adjust anything you like (such as showing your logo), and tap Done.
π·οΈ Card machine editions: On WorldLine and Razorpay editions, the receipt is set up for the card machine's built-in 2βinch printer automatically, so you won't see this screen.
π That's it! Simple POS is activated. You'll now see the staff login screen. Continue to Log in to Simple POS.
